Aramburu is an island in the middle of Richardson bay in Tiburon. After the Cosco-Buscan oil spill, autoban staff noticed that birds were seeking refuge on the island. They saw this and realised the island needed renovation. The enhancement plan was designed to improve aquatic, wetland, and upland habitats. The Enhancement project has been renovating marshes to help wildlife. Over the past century, over 90% of marshes have been destroyed. The main focus of the project was to create a habitat for terns. In the recent years, volunteers have observed groups of over 400 terns and 1000s of other birds along the shorelines.
